In 2019 I hit a larger than expected speed-bump when working on my next novel, Enslave My Heart. I had been making fantastic progress until mid-November, when I had a scheduled surgery. I expected the surgery to slow me down, but I was hopeful that I could get a lot of writing done during my recovery. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. I gave myself a couple of weeks before trying to dive back into writing, but when I did, everything felt jumbled and out-of-place.

I struggled for a couple of months before I finally broke down and asked one of my beta readers for help. Normally, I don’t let my betas look at my manuscripts until I’ve finished the first draft and edited it at least once or twice on my own. Thankfully this beta reader agreed to give it a read-through and help me sort the jumbled mess. It turns out it wasn’t nearly as bad as I’d feared and there were only a few inconsistencies I needed to correct.

Now that I’ve gone through all her notes and comments, I am back on track and feel like I should be able to complete the first draft within the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more updates!
