I have recently discovered a new serialized story platform that is in alpha testing, called Lantern. It’s created by another former contributor to Kindle Vella, Kate Seger. So far, I’m liking the overall vibe of the site and how it functions. Also, Kate and her team are very responsive in tweaking and improving the interface. Since it is still in alpha testing, the changes are happening regularly, and it’s not surprising to find a glitch or two.

When Kindle Vella shut down, I had barely concluded a story named “Alpha Discipline.” When I wrote it, I specifically wrote it for serialization and so, I’ve never gone back to rework it into a book format. Since Kindle Vella is now long gone, I figured this story could have a new home on this platform as I try out all the features and provide feedback on the functionality.

Image of the torso of a man wearing a white shirt, unbuttoned black vest, and black slacks. In one hand he's holding a glass of whiskey, and in the other a dark gray tie. Text over the bottom half of the image says "Alpha Dsicipline."

If you enjoy spicy omegaverse stories with a side of consensual BDSM kink, then you’ll enjoy reading “Alpha Discipline.” I will post a new chapter every Wednesday evening (5:00pm MDT).

As for Lantern, during alpha testing, the entire platform is free to both readers and writers. In the future, there will be a cost associated with reading stories on the platform, so that the authors can earn some income from their work. There are quite a few complete stories, and others that are updating regularly. So, come check it out and read to your heart’s content!

Reflecting on 2024
